Panther Creek is named for the large number of panther cats that inhabited the creeks densely wooded bottomlands. It is the largest creek in Davies County and was
once used to tow large loads of tile to locations along the creek.
Habitat and trail info: Explore 30 acres of woodled wetland on elevated walking trails at Panther Creek Park. There's a playground, picnic shelters, and athletic fields (KY-81S to Wayne Bridge Road west, 270/281-5346, handicapped accessible).
Wildlife Viewing Opportunities: The hiking trails provide a perfect opportunity to observe 17 species and a total of 503 individual birds like Warblers, Wrens, Cranes and Robin. Most unique were are Pileated Woodpeckers.
