Adjacent to one of the world�s largest power plants, Gibson Lake is a southwest Indiana recreation area and wildlife habitat. The nearly 3,000-acre lake on the grounds of Cinergy�s Gibson Generating Station is available for fishing and boating on Saturdays and Sundays in February and March between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Central Standard Time. Beginning April 1 through Oct. 31, the recreational area opens daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The lake is closed November-January.
There is no charge for use of Gibson Lake or for parking. Visitors are asked to sign in at the recreational area�s security building.
Gibson Lake was created in 1975 and has been open for public use since 1978. Cinergy uses water from the lake for cooling purposes at its Gibson Generating Station. The company has converted several of its properties surrounding power plants into wildlife habitats and recreational areas.

a 160-acre area of natural wet-lands,
is open to the public year-round.
�The only nesting area for Least Terns in Indiana.
� The public boat ramp is typically
closed November through February.
